This morning I got a text from my sister telling me about a story she heard on the radio about "Edie", a dog that was saved from being euthanized only an hour before. That was my introduction to Eldad Hagar. I watched the story of "Edie", and how a fearful, tormented dog came to hands of a gentle soul who saved her life. Eldad is a California resident who travels from city to city picking up stray dogs and animals at shelters to help save their lives. Please check out this video of one of the dogs saved...

My bedroom has needed a new coat of paint ever since I moved into my home. The first year I bought the house I decided what color my new bedroom would be. The second year in my home I painted one wall. The third year I decided I did not like the color of the one wall. Here it is, my fourth year in my home, and I have finally picked a color I like and painted all four walls in my room........it's lovely....with one exception... I can't reach the top of the wall that joins the ceiling. I now have four beautiful walls in a deep shade of glacier blue that are completely unfinished at the top.

Sure I pulled out my little three step folding ladder and was able to reach a little bit closer, but not even close to the top. I need a TALL ladder to be able to paint the tops of my walls. I drive a Honda Accord. Honda....TALL ladder.......Honda.......TALL ladder.......

How do I get a 21 foot TALL ladder into my Honda?? I have come to the realization that you cannot do home improvements when you drive a sedan...it's discrimintation against the small car. That's what it is, I tell ya...

Orange You Glad

I absolutely love the color orange. I don't think it's used nearly enough. I like to call it tangerine, it just sounds fancier to me. I just completed my order for a new set of business cards, and guess what color I used!!! While my "favorite color" tends to change from week to week depending on my mood, my love for this color never wavers. I try to incorporate orange into as many things in my daily life as possible, it just brightens things up, ya know?

The Bachelor is still on TV???

The Bachelor is still on TV??? Seriously??? How many seasons/years has it been now? Have any of them ever lasted? I did, in fact, watch "The Bachelor" last night when I found it while browsing the fascinating cable line up. What I cannot believe, is that there are still women in America that actually audition and want to participate in this ridiculous show. Astonishingly while watching, ABC posted an advertisement for the upcoming season of the show!! If anyone is interested, they are taking applicants right now...hurry and run right out the door!!! Do they really think that you can date a man who is also dating 20 other women at the same time, who coincidentally live with you in a mansion that none of you own. Not only is he dating multiple women, the women that you actually are living with, he is having group dates with you and him, and them...and to top things off, you are given over the top dates that take place in foreign countries,you are given dresses, jewelry, roses, champagne, horseback riding lessons on the beach, hot air balloon rides, and many, many other gifts that have nothing to do with the "bachelor", but are actually from the producers of the TV show. Ladies, seriously, stop trying out for the show and maybe it will go off the air. Let's show ABC we are not this stupid.

Yeast that's Nutritional??

So there is this product that is fairly well known in the vegan world....nutritional yeast. I know what you're thinking...probably the same thing I thought....they just swapped out the word "nutritional" for "brewer's" to get people to buy it and think it's healthy....as it turns out, nutritional yeast is a valuable source of vitamin B12, which normally comes from meat. If you are vegan, you are probably in need of vitamin B12. The bonus is, that I, and many, many others, have discovered is, that nutritional yeast has an awesome nutty cheesy flavor that can be added to foods and makes them fantastic!! Try the "Hurry Up Alfredo" recipe in Lauren Ulm's "Vegan Yum Yum".....you won't miss the dairy one bit!!

That was last night...I have to share with you the cookbook I used to create the most awesome vegan pancakes ever! The cookbook is "Vegan Yum Yum" which is titled after the authors blog. She has fantastic recipes in her book that even a non vegan would love! The pancakes are SUPER easy and even my 5 year old nephew ate them!! Check out the cookbook, it's AWESOME, and even if you aren't a vegan, it's a great idea just to try some meat free meals once in a while! Here it is....

The Blind Side

Have you been to see this movie, "The Blind Side"? I have to say, hands down this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Although the movie was almost 3 hours long, the time flew by! This was a movie I didn't want to end. Sandra Bullock does an outstanding job in this film and the story of Michael Oher will bring you to tears. The film was based on the book "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game", written by sportswriter Michael Lewis in 2006. I have never been much of a football fan, (I'd much rather watch basketball) but I have to say, I think I might enjoy reading the book now that I can personalize it with a face, Michael Oher, and I want to know all about a left tackle. The Kind Diet

Have you heard of this?? The Kind Diet is a new book out written by Alicia Silverstone, and Neal Barnard, M.D.....It's been on Oprah so the odds of you finding this in a bookstore are probably slim. Neverless there is always Amazon!! Anyway, back to the book, Alicia says when she began "flirting" with the vegan lifestlye she noticed a dramatic change in her overall body, stronger hair and nails, less bloating, better poops...that's right, I said poops...She incorporates a lot of fresh, clean and organic fruits, grains, vegetables in her diet now and is conscious of where the food originated and whether it's a sustainable product! The Kind Diet....Be kind to yourself, your health and the planet.
